The Lean Systems Approach in Northamptonshire Police 10/11/2010 2:00pm

Speaker: Geraldine Pearson-Green, Northamptonshire Police.

Lean Systems Thinking provides us with a method of dealing with the aftermath of the severe financial situation  we face in policing for the next three to four years. It is not possible to just cut staff numbers without restructuring our processes.

The ethos of Lean is 'Value to the Customer' and that value stream is key to everything we do, ensuring that customer satisfaction and service are the drivers behind a streamlined and less bureaucratic process.

My presentation covers the principles of Lean and the way we are delivering it in force, together with some of our success stories and lessons learned.

This will be useful to anybody who is tasked with restructuring or reorganising the processes and procedures within their departments or work areas, and it can increase productivity and efficiency significantly without cost and is led by the practitioners, not 'done to them'.

I hope you enjoy it.

Getting the Job Done with Social Media 27/09/2010

Speaker: Barry Sampson, Onlignment.  Just a couple of years ago it was hard to find any serious use of social media within the workplace, and yet now it's commonplace to see blogs, wikis and other collaborative tools being used. Adding social learning to the blend can enhance the learning experience, increase engagement and at the same time reduce the time and cost involved in more traditional approaches.  So why do some organisations find it so hard to get started? In this webinar, you'll learn how leading organisations are employing a range of simple to use social learning tools to share knowledge and experience, and turn trainees into learners.

Creating and Using Online Materials 13/09/2010

Speaker: Mark Berthelemy, Learning Solutions Architect, Capita Learning & Development.  To make online learning really effective, it has to integrate closely with the needs of the "business" and be implemented carefully. This webinar will look at:
1. A model for designing online learning materials that starts with the business objectives
2. Ways in which online learning can be used in conjunction with face-to-face events and coaching.

Getting the Job Done with Live Online Training 10/08/2010

Speaker: Phil Green, Onlignment.  Most training is carried out live in the classroom or on-the-job, but face-to-face instruction is not always the most practical or cost-effective option. Web conferencing allows you to continue to offer live training but without the need for all participants to be present in the same location.  The 'virtual classroom' is ideal for running short training sessions, follow-ups, seminars and meetings. In this webinar, you'll learn how leading organisations are making use of web conferencing to provide more training more efficiently and how they have equipped their classroom instructors to make a successful transition to online delivery.

Getting the Job Done with Low-Cost Online Content 15/07/2010

Speaker: Clive Shepherd, Onlignment.  Online content comes in many forms, from highly-structured e-learning materials through to simple videos, podcasts, slide shows, screencasts and web articles. Online content is increasingly easy to develop, not only by media specialists, but by subject experts and generalist trainers, for use in self-paced learning, for employee communications and for performance support. In this webinar, you'll learn how leading organisations are using online content to respond to fast changing learning and communications requirements, making use of a wide range of channels from desktop PCs to smart phones.
